Candace Owens Sued by Brigitte Macron “Man of the Year”

In 2024, commentator Candace Owens launched a podcast series, Becoming Brigitte, about Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, was born male as Jean-Michel Trogneux, her older brother, and transitioned at age 30. Owens alleges this is part of a larger story involving political blackmail, CIA mind-control programs, and fraud, staking her professional reputation on these claims. The Macrons responded with a 22-count defamation lawsuit filed in Delaware Superior Court in July 2025, accusing Owens of spreading lies for profit and notoriety, causing reputational harm. Owens frames the lawsuit as an attack on her free speech while continuing to push her allegations.

Candace Owens’ Claim

In her Becoming Brigitte podcast series, launched January 2025, Candace Owens claims Brigitte Macron stole her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux’s identity, never gave birth to her three children, and questions her first marriage to banker André-Louis Auzière, who allegedly died in 2020. She relies on French blogger Natacha Rey’s three-year investigation, which cites discrepancies in Brigitte’s birth records, a 1984 hospital stay for gender transition, and interviews with Trogneux family associates claiming Jean-Michel vanished after Brigitte’s transition. Owens further claims Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron are distant cousins, pointing to genealogical research from Rey that allegedly traces their lineage to a shared ancestor in Amiens, France, suggesting a hidden familial motive behind their marriage. She also alleges Emmanuel’s rapid political rise was orchestrated by a CIA-run MKUltra program, claiming it used psychological manipulation to install him as a compliant French president, referencing declassified MKUltra documents and unnamed sources linking U.S. intelligence to European politics.

Macrons’ Legal Counter

The Macrons’ 218-page lawsuit, filed in Delaware Superior Court in July 2025, details Candace Owens’ refusal to retract her claims despite three demands, starting in December 2024, which included a certified 1953 birth certificate from Amiens, France, listing Brigitte Trogneux as female at birth, hospital records from Saint-Saulve Maternity Hospital documenting her birth on April 13, 1953, and notarized affidavits from her siblings and parents attesting to her female identity and upbringing. The Macrons accuse Owens of exploiting these falsehoods to boost her brand, causing “global humiliation” and financial harm, and seek punitive damages for defamation. In a 2021 French lawsuit, Brigitte won €8,000 against Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey for similar transgender claims, but the Paris Appeals Court overturned this on July 10, 2025, ruling the women’s “good faith” claims were free speech, as they believed their unevidenced allegations served the public interest, canceling damages to Brigitte and her brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux.

Brigitte’s Lawyer Defends Pedophiles and Rapists

Eric Dupond-Moretti, Brigitte Macron’s lawyer and former French Justice Minister (2020-2024), has faced scrutiny for his defense of controversial clients, which Candace Owens highlighted in her July 28, 2025, podcast, notably the Manache affair where he allegedly framed Denis Manache’s repeated rape of his daughter as “happy incest,” and the Outreau case, where he secured acquittals for six accused pedophiles, reportedly intimidating a seven-year-old victim during questioning. He gained the name the “acquittator” for his record of over 145 acquittals. In 2023, Dupond-Moretti faced trial for conflict of interest, accused of using his ministerial position to target magistrates who investigated his former clients, though he was acquitted. He also defended Bernard Forget, adoptive father of Eva Son-Forget, a former French politician who transitioned in 2024 and posted on Facebook on July 27, 2025, alleging Dupond-Moretti protected pedophile networks tied to the Macrons, claiming Bernard was convicted of raping minors yet shielded by Dupond-Moretti’s legal tactics.
